REVIEW: From a Buick 8

Title: From a Buick 8
Author: Stephen King
Finished: March 13, 2011

Format: audiobook

Not my favorite Stephen King so far and it seemed to take me forever to fully get into the story and stick with it. I finally put it on my iPod and forced myself to continue listening and slowly the story developed enough and contained enough action to keep my attention.

The story is about a car found deserted on a road that holds mysterious powers and many secrets for the inhabitants of the town and the police force who continues to maintain it in one of their sheds.

The results and aftershocks of the Buick continue on for years and well past the careers of most of the men who followed the path of the Buick and its gifts. It was very interesting but not sure about how I really feel and if maybe I only enjoyed it less due to the length of time it took to actually listen to it.

REVIEW: Worst Case

Title: Worst Case
Author: James Patterson
Finished: March 12, 2011

Published: 2010
Format: First Edition

Michael Bennett is back full force not only handling his newest case involving a series of brutal kidnappings and with the help of a very pretty FBI agent the search leads them in circles, no end in sight.

Bennett finds himself struggling with not only the case, but his suddenly complicated love life and the prospect of a future that involves a new mother for his children. It doesn’t help matters and keep his head as clear as he would hope when things are home before even more complicated.

This was another great adventure in the Bennett family and I look forward to more stories and the continuation of Michael’s personal life as he searches for what his future holds.

REVIEW: Live to Tell

Title: Live to Tell
Author: Lisa Gardner
Finished: March 10, 2011

Format: Early Reviewer

I’ve read one other Gardner book in the past, but this book kept me on the edge of my seat and I could barely put it down long enough to work or do anything else productive. I absolutely loved it.

Three different women, three different lives, and three different stories that all come together in the most unexpected ways to create the most thrilling and compelling story I have read in awhile.

A mother worried about her disturbed son, a cop sexually frustrated and searching for answers, and a caretaker of young children looking to erase the past hoping for a better future.

All three women are struggling with the truths in their lives, running from their pasts and they come together to solve the biggest mysteries of all … the truth behind their suffering and find a killer who holds to key to everything.

Amazing book. I can’t wait to read more from Gardner.

Another great Early Reviewer book I’m catching up on.

This was a very interesting read but not quite for my current job status. I don’t know if I’ll ever be at the point of truly going freelance as I enjoy my job too much the way it is, but it was very insightful to read about the process of creating your own business, keep it running, make money and survive on your own.

If you’re looking to branch out and create something new, this is a great book to pick up and read through. It’s pretty quick and fun!
