Tuesday Things: Restyle Your Library

tuesdaythingers1

Questions: Have you explored the different styles? Have you customized any of the styles? If so, what are your favorite customized items (isbn, Dewey Decimal, Reviews, Book-Swap, etc)?

I haven’t really played around with this but it sure makes me want to go check it out. My library is pretty boring. A-Z listing by title. Let me go check it out …. I did a little editing and I like the idea of including date aquired/added and date read. It will be interesting once I update it to see how long it takes me on average to read a book once it’s in my collection.

Tuesday Thingers – Memes

tuesdaythingers1

Tuesday Thingers is a weekly meme hosted by Wendi of Wendi’s Book Corner.  Click on the link to her blog to read more responses to this week’s question, which is:

Do you visit the memes section often? Have you visited recently? Have you discovered anything that surprises you when you visit the memes for your library?

My Answer:

I actually just recently visited because I was curious what it was about. It’s not what I expected but I have to say my favorite is probably the “you and none other”. It’s always interesting find out that there are odd books in the collection. I have six books that I only share with one other person.

I like the other comparisons as well, finding out male vs. female and dead vs. alive. But this is only the books in my personal collection. I only wish there was a way to know about everything I’ve read as well.

Tuesday Thingers: Member Giveaways

tuesdaythingers1

Were you aware of the Member Giveaways Program? Have you posted any books in the giveaway? If so, what are your thoughts on the program? Have you requested any books, and if so, did you win any?

I am aware of the Member Giveaways Program since I am a member of the Early Reviewers they informed us when it launched. I haven’t posted any books yet, but eventually I may end up using that feature if I have a large amount of books that I no longer want and/or something stays on BookMooch too long and hasn’t been snagged. I have requested some books but as of yet I have not won any of them.

Tuesday Thingers: Favorite Genres

tuesdaythingers1 Do you have a specialized blog where you only review a certain genre or type of book? If so, what is your favorite thing about that type of book? If not, what is/are your favorite genre(s)? What makes that genre(s) a favorite?

My blog isn’t really specialized in the sense that I only review certain genre’s. I think like most book bloggers, I review or comment on every book I read. I do have a tendency to read more general fiction than anything else, but I try to at least venture out past that some during the year.

Most of the fiction I have been reading lately has been in the crime/cop fiction (ie James Patterson, Michael Connely, Sue Grafton, Janet Evanovich), but they’re also fun and easy reads. I think it’s my favorite because you get to solve a crime along with the character. Much like a TV show, they are character driven and most don’t make you think too hard and/or have to reflect much on the purpose.

Tuesday Thingers – Open Shelves Classification

tuesdaythingers1

Prior to today, were you aware of Open Shelves Classification? Have you helped to classify any books yet? Is this something you are interested in? Did you know that if you classify any books, it will also show you who else has classified the book?

I’ve been hearing more and more about this lately, but honestly I wouldn’t even know what to do and where to start. I am a big classification person and use this in my own collections at home, but this somehow seems bigger. Since it’s already become so popular and there are a lot of people involved I wouldn’t even know where to begin.

I could see myself becoming interested in it and wanting to help out but currently it seems more complicated for someone who hasn’t been in from the beginning.
