Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz

Title: Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz
Author: L. Frank Baum
Date finished: January 6, 2009
Page: 272
Challenges: 999 Challenge, A-Z Challenge, 50/100+ Book Challenge, Decades Challenge

The fourth installment of the Wizard of Oz series. I enjoyed this one as much as the last one. The fact that Baum can keep coming up with more adventures for Dorothy and new characters that somehow fit into this wonderful world and these different lands, is almost as creative and interesting as sci-fi writers creating dimensions.

There’s still a lot left in the series so we’ll see how far I can get this year.

2009 Chunkster Challenge

chunkster1My first year with the Chunkster Challenge. All the details are here. A chunkster is 450 pages or more of regular type or 525 large type.

I’m going to go with option #2 – *Do These Books Make my Butt Look Big? – this option is for the slightly heavier reader who wants to commit to 3-5¬†Chunksters¬†over the next ten months.

My List:

  1. The Host by Stephenie Meyer (619 pages)
  2. East of Eden by John Steinbeck (601 pages)
  3. The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett (973 pages)

That being said, here is a tentative list of what I would like to read –

  • The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood
  • Harry Potter Book 5, 6 and/or 7
  • Emma by Jane Austen
  • The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
