End of Event Meme

Well, it’s official…I didn’t make it to the end, but it was still my mom successful read-a-thon. There are still some who are just getting ready to go to bed, I figured I should probably get some sleep since I need to leave for church in about 45 minutes.

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
Hour 17 … when I quit and went to bed. My book couldn’t hold my attention or keep me awake. Neither could the TV background noise. I was hopeless

2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
The Nancy Drew books were a great idea and I always love to read some James Patteson as well

3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
I think it was great. I mentioned before that I think there could have been some shorter mini-challenges since so many took at least half the reading time during each hour

4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
Everything was smooth flowing, the cheerleaders were great, Twitter updates and main blog updates were quick as well

5. How many books did you read?
I read 7 full books and started another one

6. What were the names of the books you read?

  • The Hidden Staircase by Carolyn Keene
  • The Bungalow Mystery by Carolyn Keene
  • The Mystery at Lilac Inn by Carolyn Keene
  • Twilight-The Graphic Novel: Volume 1 by Stephenie Meyer and Young King
  • Tarantula by Bob Dylan
  • The Secret of Shadow Ranch by Carolyn Keene
  • The Secret of Red Gate Farm by Carolyn Keene

7. Which book did you enjoy most?
I think the Twilight Graphic Novel was very interesting to read, and quick. I was excited to get through 3rd Degree but now I can look forward to finishing that later

8. Which did you enjoy least?
Tarantula by Bob Dylan; his poetry style is very interesting – more free verse – and so it took longer to read than expected

9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
I wasn’t a cheerleader but I felt a lag around the time a quit when it started to get quiet, and I saw a few people mention it on Twitter as well, but overall they were amazing.

10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
100% on board for joining in a  reader again. It would be great to know the date as soon in advance as possible because the earlier I get it on my calendar, the less likely I have conflict

You got a lot of reading done for stopping at hour 17, wow!

As for the next date, it’s usually the third weekend in October, but don’t quote me for sure.
